Plot

The dance drama retells the poignant story of Xiang Yu, the King of Western Chu and Yu Ji, his loyal and beautiful concubine, whose devotion leads her to follow him in death, creating a timeless tragedy. At its heart, the narrative explores themes of love, loyalty, and betrayal against the backdrop of a fierce power struggle between Xiang Yu and Liu Bang, the eventual founder of the Han Dynasty (206 BC- AD 220).

As the Qin Dynasty (221-206 BC) crumbles, Xiang Yu and Liu Bang rise as allies in the rebellion. However, their camaraderie gives way to rivalry, culminating in the decisive Battle of Gaixia. Betrayed and outmaneuvered, Xiang Yu faces defeat. In a final act of love and loyalty, Yu Ji performs a heart-wrenching dance before taking her own life to spare Xiang Yu further anguish. Overcome by despair, Xiang Yu meets his own tragic end, cementing their story as a timeless tale of devotion and sacrifice.
